THE KING WHO PLAYED VIOLIN

 
   

When Picasso discovered the painter Rousseau he not only made him famous he also held a dinner in his honour. The ‘Douanier’ was put on a throne, crowned and placed at the head table. During the dinner he was asked to play his violin, Rousseau enthusiastically obliged, completely oblivious to his own appalling violin playing.

 

 

  Rad Wary and the Poets  
  Original captions were transcribed from listening to poetry workshops given by Sophie Hannah these inspired the first set of  98 drawings.   Which were sent to Adam Thorpe who re-captioned them (by making random pin pricks into the 'Book of Disquietude' by Ferdinand Pessoa).  The next series of drawings were then titled by William Radice (who made pin pricks into his own writing) and the most recent set are randomly selected quotes from ‘The olive, green, yellow, grey, brown, orange, red, crimson, pink, lilac, violet, blue and Celtic Fairy books
